The Society of Outdoor Recreation Professionals (SORP) is accepting scholarship applications for the 2026 National Outdoor Recreation Conference in Duluth, Minnesota, May 11-14, 2026. SORP fosters the next generation of outdoor recreation professionals by providing conference scholarships. The conference is an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest outdoor recreation research and practices and to network with other attendees.
SORP provides two types of scholarship opportunities:
- Student Scholarship: Full conference registration and a 1-year membership to SORP
- New Professional Scholarship: Full conference registration and a $750 stipend for travel/lodging expenses
Application Procedure
Scholarships will be provided on a first come, first served basis with applications being reviewed following the deadline. All participants who submitted an application will be notified by February 6, 2026.
Applicants may only apply for one scholarship type. There is no age limit for either scholarship opportunity. SORP is committed to a collective strength and encourages a wide array of applicants to apply. The Scholarship Work Group is seeking applicants whose studies and goals align with the SORP values as well as the conference theme and how their connection to outdoor recreation can serve as a catalyst for restoration and revitalization.
