  • Scholarship Opportunities Available for NORC 2024!

    SORP is now accepting scholarship applications to the 2024 National Outdoor Recreation Conference (NORC) in South Lake Tahoe, Stateline, NV, May 6-9, 2024. 

    Two scholarship types  available:

    ·       Student Scholarship: Award includes: Full conference registration and a 1-year membership to SORP

    ·       New Professional Scholarship: Award includes: Full conference registration and a $750 stipend for travel/lodging expenses

    SORP strongly encourages Black, Indigenous, all Peoples of Color, members of 2SLGBTQ+ communities, and women to apply. Applicants may only apply for one scholarship type. Deadline January 7, 2024.

  • SORP Awards Nomination Portal Open!

    The SORP awards nomination online portal is now open! These awards recognize outstanding accomplishments in the field of outdoor recreation planning, management, research, and policy.

    The two awards that are open to the public for nominations are:

    • Individual Service Award
    • Project Excellence Award

    Award winners will be recognized at the National Outdoor Recreation Conference during the awards luncheon on  Tuesday, May 7 at the Tahoe Blue Event Center.

The Society of Outdoor Recreation Professionals (SORP) is now accepting scholarship applications to the 2024 National Outdoor Recreation Conference (NORC) in South Lake Tahoe, Stateline, NV, May 6-9, 2024. SORP fosters the next generation of outdoor recreation professionals by providing conference scholarships. The conference is an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest outdoor recreation research and practices and to network with other attendees.

NORC provides two types of scholarship opportunities:
  • Student Scholarship: Award includes: Full conference registration and a 1-year membership to SORP
  • New Professional Scholarship: Award includes: Full conference registration and a $750 stipend for travel/lodging expenses

Deadline January 7, 2024. 

Applicants may only apply for one scholarship type. The number of scholarships available is pending the amount of funding received. Scholarships will be provided first come, first serve with the initial notification to applicants by February 15, 2024. SORP strongly encourages Black, Indigenous, all Peoples of Color, members of 2SLGBTQ+ communities, and women to apply. There is no age limit for either scholarship opportunity.
