  • NORC Registration Paused

    We are blown away with the excitement to attend the 2024 NORC! We anticipated a record number of attendance, but you all have exceeded our expectations. With that being said, we are pausing registration and starting our waitlist. If we have cancellations, we will communicate with those on the waitlist on a first come, first served basis. Please join our waitlist here.

  • NORC REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!

    Registration is now open for the 2024 National Outdoor Recreation Conference! Full registrations start at $550 for SORP members and $650 for nonmembers. Take advantage of the early registration discount and register by March 15! A full registration, over the course of 4 days, includes all sessions, lunch on 3 days (Tuesday to Thursday), option of one offsite Wednesday workshop (transportation included), refreshments throughout the day, and evening social events including the poster reception, scholarship fundraiser, and silent auction (light apps and cash bar), and film night (cash bar).

     

    Please note that field workshops are first come, first serve. 

  • REMINDER: Apply for a Scholarship by January 7!

    SORP fosters the next generation of outdoor recreation professionals by providing conference scholarships. The conference is an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest outdoor recreation research and practices and to network with other attendees. SORP strongly encourages Black, Indigenous, all Peoples of Color, members of 2SLGBTQ+ communities, and women to apply. There is no age limit for either scholarship opportunity.

     

    NORC provides two types of scholarship opportunities:

    • Student Scholarship
      Award includes: Full conference registration and a 1-year membership to SORP
    • New Professional Scholarship
      Award includes: Full conference registration and a $750 stipend for travel/lodging expenses

Field Workshops (included in a full registration) and the MS Dixie Boat Cruise on Lake Tahoe ($50 fee for attendees) have limited capacity so register early to save your spot!

Silent Auction

Help support our scholarship program and donate to our silent auction! The silent auction will take place on Monday evening, May 6 with all auction proceeds going towards our student and new professional scholarships. All donations are tax-deductible.

WHY ATTEND?

NORC is the premiere conference for outdoor recreation professionals with opportunities for learning, networking, and field-based case studies. During each conference, we create a program that inspires, challenges, and empowers the broad community of outdoor recreation professionals.


The 2024 National Outdoor Recreation Conference is in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and sponsored by Aramark Destinations.

 

WHO ATTENDS?

NORC brings together over 400 people that include recreation resource planners, land managers, policy makers, tourism and destination stewardship partners, researchers, consultants, innovators, and leaders in outdoor recreation.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT?

This year’s conference promises to be an engaging 4-day format filled with workshops, several tracks of concurrent sessions, and a stellar lineup of keynotes.

Below is a tentative day-by-day agenda that is included in a full registration and in one day registrations for that particular day. Meal tickets will be available for guests for any food functions.

WHERE?

We are looking forward to hosting NORC 2024 at the brand new Tahoe Blue Event Center in South Lake Tahoe/Stateline, Nevada! The event center will host our general and concurrent classroom sessions as well as our exhibitors. The meeting rooms overlook Heavenly Ski Resort, providing a one-of-a-kind atmosphere, and from the outside deck you’ll get a spectacular view of Lake Tahoe!
