Rachel, this is a great question and one we at NC State Parks have mulled over quite a bit. However, the "hiccup" we are worried about is that if someone is traveling 3 hours to one of our parks. They check the "alert system" at 6 a.m., it will likely state that the park is open without any capacity issues, however, when they get there at 9 a.m., it could be at capacity and we are not allowing additional visitors in.
I would love to hear what others are doing!
Thanx

Subject: Parking capacity alert
Hi all - Here's an ask for this group: Are you aware of any state or agency that is using some sort of alert system that notifies visitors when a parking area has reached capacity? I feel like something has to exist somewhere and it would be great to learn more about it.
