10-14-2023 12:20 PM

The coastal area of the Los Padres National Forest, Monterey Ranger District along California Highway 1 has some of the most rugged and scenic country found in California. Including the iconic Big Sur area, this portion of the central coast is a key destination for regional and international visitors. The Coastal Zone recreation and visitor use management project area includes the coast from Andrew Molera State Park in the North to San Carpoforo beach in the South and inland to approximately the Nacimiento Summit, including portions of the Ventana and Silver Peak Wilderness Areas and the Big Sur Wild and Scenic River that are accessed from the coast.
