NORC (national outdoor recreation conference)

The California Joint Strategy for Sustainable Outdoor Recreation and Wildfire Resilience elevated communities, peoples, and priorities into collectively thinking about sustainable outdoor recreation, inclusive access to the outdoors, and wildfire resilience. This session will walk through the collaborative process, development, and delivery of the Joint Strategy in 2023. Presenters will share lessons learned about cross-jurisdictional collaboration and community engagement and provide updates on implementation of recommendations and projects from the Joint Strategy.

• Identify components of effective community outreach and engagement
• Explore consensus-building among diverse working group participants
• Explain the importance of integrating outdoor recreation into broader initiatives including wildfire and forest resilience and economic development
