Leveraging Private Investments for Recreation Infrastructure and Trails

When:  Apr 23, 2025 from 01:00 PM to 02:00 PM (MT)

The Great Outdoors Fund was established to create a bridge between public agencies and private funders who want to support outdoor recreation access and infrastructure on public lands. Agencies do not have the authority to ask for outside funding for recreation projects, and many trail and recreation-focused nonprofit organizations often lack the capacity to find and manage the funding for larger projects. This webinar will feature the work of The Great Outdoors Fund to build relationships with land managers and potential funders to match projects with funding to benefit access to and stewardship of the outdoors.

Learning Objectives (3-5):

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify what a shovel-ready project is.

  • Understand what public and private funding is available for outdoor recreation infrastructure projects.

  • Understand TGOF’s role as a funding mechanism and the benefits to the agencies.

Presenters:

  • Lori McCullough, CEO of the Great Outdoors Fund

  • Sean Noonan, BLM San Luis Valley Field Office

  • Trevor Robinson, USFS Siuslaw National Forest
