Camping on private land is an increasingly popular way for people to experience the outdoors. Private landowners throughout North America – and across the world – are expanding outdoor access and meeting the ever growing need for outdoor experiences by opening up the lands they own and manage for outdoor recreation and camping. This can be a boon for landowners and a benefit to rural economies, but with this growth comes the need to manage potential impacts and ensure campers are responsible and respectful. This session will explore how Hipcamp is leading the way on developing and advocating for policies that help landowners promote stewardship and responsible recreation and ensure communities recognize and are able to plan for this type of camping.
